My 3 Favourite Under Eye Concealers...

...And they're all for less than £10 too! I've harped on enough about my horrendous dark rings under my eyes and I'm constantly trying out different products to try and hide them as much as possible. These three concealers have cropped up on so many different blogs on numerous occasions and I can totally vouch for the fact that they are worthy of their rave reviews. Whilst each product are very efficient on their own I've found that mixing all three together creates the perfect formula for both brightening and concealing the under eye area.

There's been quite a lot of mixed reviews about this concealer in terms of what it's best used for. Most people seem to love it to cover up blemishes but not so sure about using it beneath the eyes as it can look cakey. I wasn't massively keen on it at first however I could appreciate that it did cover up very well; hence why it's popular for hiding any imperfections. I figured that it could be good for concealing dark rings but I just needed to mix it with something that was more hydrating in order for it to look a lot more natural once blended. This is where Maybelline's Eraser Eye comes in and forms a fab combo...

If you look at the swatches below you'll notice that The Eraser Eye is a lot more sheer in comparison to the other two concealers. My rings are too dark to use this alone however I'm sure that there are some lucky people that can use this as their sole under-eye concealer product (and I'm very jealous!). Despite this, I really do love this concealer as it's super hydrating and leaves a dewy finish to the skin without creasing at all. The sponge applicator is a little unusual but really easy to work with. By combining this with Lasting Perfection I'm getting both of their best qualities in one. I swipe a line of Lasting Perfection along the socket bone and then apply the Eraser Eye over the top and blend outwards. I like to leave it to dry for a couple of minutes before gently patting into the skin. Lasting Perfection conceals the dark rings whilst the Eraser Eye prevents it from looking cakey.

This is the middle man in the sense that it doesn't provide quite as much coverage as Lasting Perfection but more than Eraser Eye, and it isn't qute as hydrating as Eraser Eye but not as cakey as Lasting Perfection. It's kind of an inbetweener yet it is still a great concealer. It literally does 'wake up' the skin by illuminating the area, providing a brightness that isn't quite achievable by using the other two alone. To apply this I use the  doe foot applicator to dot along the socket bone over the top of my blended combo (as above). I find that leaving it to set before blending with my fingers creates a slightly thicker consistency and keeps the product in place rather than just dragging it around the skin.
Using three concealers beneath the eyes may seem like a lot of product, especially where the skin is so thin and prone to looking cakey however I only use a very small amount of each to ensure that it still looks very natural.

Currently this little trio has been working an absolute treat for me. Have you tried either three?

love Katya x

  4. I didn't like the Collection concealer as much as everyone else, because I mostly needed for under eye area 7 it can feel too heavy for that. I did quite like the Rimmel Wake Me up one but not sure why I never repurchased x

    1. It really does have such mixed reviews. I agree it can be a little heavy for such a delicate area but I always ensure I use it sparingly and the Maybellline thins it down.

  26. Initially, I was a fan of the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. But as my dark circles worsened, I found that the concealer only made the area look ashy and dull. It just wasn't doing any justice. The shade options are also really limited. At the moment I'm using Maybelline's FIT ME which I find that it not only brightens the under-eye area, but its also great for covering up blemishes and discolouration! x

    PS- your photos are amazing!

    1. I agree, it can look a little dull which I why I always use the other two concealers as a brightener but I find it has really great coverage! They definitely need to bring out more shades to suit a larger variety of skin tones though. I've heard good things about FIT ME so I'll have to give it a try! Thank you so much :)

  27. I actually purchased the Eye Eraser a few weeks ago after seeing all the great reviews and I must admit I was a bit disappointed. Just like you said, it doesn't have much coverage .. but the Rimmel one looks promising, and perhaps that's the one I'll reach for next time I'm in the shop.

Also, I absolutely loooove your name!

  28. Gorgeous clear photos! I too have ridiculous dark circles, so the collection lasting perfection is one of my favourites! Though it is rather thick. I also love the Rimmel lasting finish concealer, it has a peachy tone and a creamy consistency, so worn under a brighter concealer and I can really get a flawless finish ^_^
