Christmas | English Getaway

I'm sure that all of you will agree with me when I say that I love a good holiday and for me this has always meant hopping on a plane and travelling somewhere many miles from the UK. This time however I decided to do something a little different to what I'm used to. As ignorant as this may sound, other than weekends away visiting various different family members, going on holiday in England is something that I haven't ever really done before but when me and James both had  a week off work last week we wanted to use it wisely rather than just wasting it away doing nothing.

Wishlist | December

I've been lusting after these gorgeous make-up brushes for so long and this year they're on my Christmas list. I always think that you can never have too many make-up brushes and these are a definite must to add to my collection. They look and sound of absolute fantastic quality and so reasonably priced- not to mention that this set comes in rose gold too. I'm currently toying with the idea of whether to get this set or the complete eye set- maybe I'll just have to get both!

Becoming a Graduate

Yesterday after 3 years at Southampton Solent University I finally graduated with a 2.1 in Make Up and Hair Design for Music, Film and Photography! It definitely seemed like a long time coming considering I got my results way back in July but it was nice to be able to reunite with everyone and see how far we have all come since leaving.  It was such a good feeling and I was so proud of everyone; especially my housemates as we all went through all the same stress and endless hours in the library together so it was really nice to see that it all paid off in the end.

Wish List | November

I've recently come across this eye serum from La Roche-Posay which is said to rectify dark rings under the eyes; something that I am forever trying to conceal. The skin under our eyes is extremely delicate and needs lots of extra care and attention so I've been on the look out for  a product that really works and will reduce my reliance on concealer, whilst also helping to keep the area hydrated and prevent creases forming. This caffeine combined cream by La Roche-Posay is said to do just that so I'm hoping that this could turn out to be a staple product in my make-up bag.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light

All hail Aqualia Thermal Light! My all time favourite facial moisturiser. I've tried and tested so many different moisturisers over the years but so far Vichy has outdone them all! It leaves my skin feeling so refreshed and hydrated, which I always believe is the perfect base to start with before applying primer and foundation. There have been times when I've attempted to be frugal and gone for a slightly cheaper moisturiser but I always end up returning to my trusty Aqualia Thermal.

Wish List | October

Almond Oil is a product that I have seen recommended on Pixiwoo . It's considered a natural oil to remove eye make up and keep the skin looking healthy and nourished. As renowned make-up artists and with a wealth of knowledge behind them this is a piece of advice that I'm more than willing to try. I 'm intrigued to see if it really does work wonders to benefit my complexion.

Windsor Half Marathon 2014

After all the months of training I finally completed the Windsor Half Marathon! To my absolute surprise I managed to finish it in 2hr6mins which I was so pleased with as I was expecting to do it around 2hr30. Despite how painful I found it at the time, it definitely proved that the training did pay off.

Brows That Wow

Eyebrows are such a significant part of the face and I believe that they can totally make or break a look. When taken care of and groomed well they are capable of opening up the eyes and sculpting the face, so it's really important to get it right and not fall victim of failed make up due to dodgy brows. The first step to achieving this is to shape them and whilst I am in absolutely no way an eyebrow expert I have put together a small guideline of the different methods that this can be carried out. Once you have got the correct shape then maintaining them is pretty easy!

My First Ever Blog Post

Models L-R: Suzie Rennie & Rachel Walker. Make-up, Hair and Concept: Katya Van Bick
So I've finally got my act together and started my blog. It's something that I've been wanting to do for a while but with a mountain of uni work to do I just haven't got round it. Now that I've just completed my final hand in less than 2 weeks ago, I've definitely got a lot more time on my hands. I'm a massive fanatic for all things beauty and am forever trying new things out, so it seems most appropriate to write about them. Studying for my degree in make-up and hair design really has opened my eyes to the beauty industry and I love it more than ever!
