When it comes to lip liners they can be quite drying, which in terms of appearance isn't so much of an issue when you're overlaying it with a lipstick, however an overly dry lip liner can be difficult to apply often pulling on the lips and creating a messy outline. Thankfully Rimmel have overcome this with their Exaggerate Lip Liner; a retractable pencil with a fine slanted tip and a smooth formula that glides on with ease. Outlining the lips tends to be the hardest part yet this enables for a sharp and defined line, so once you've mastered this part applying the lipstick should be simple!
More often than not matte lipsticks will always be my preference of choice over a sheer formula. I find they last longer, look better and are much easier to maintain. Typically however, whilst they seem to tick most of the boxes when it comes to durability and pigmentation, their main downfall is that they can be very drying and cling to any cracks or flakiness. Whilst this isn't a huge issue with lip liners, when it comes to lipsticks it's never a good look. So it was a joyous occasion when I tried Maybelline's Colour Sensational Matte Lipstick and found that they've managed to create a moisturising matte lipstick. And by that I mean that the formula is so ultra creamy that it applies smoothly without tugging on the lips and keeps the lips hydrated, yet once dried it still holds that gorgeous velvet texture that I love so much about matte lips. Not a dry flaky patch in site!
So why are these the perfect duo? In short, the sharp defined line that is so easy achievable with the lip liner sits hand in hand with the creaminess of the matte lipstick to create that perfect pout. However not only are their formulas a match made in heaven but their red-brown hues are a dream team too. They're almost identical in colour with the liner being very marginally darker to give a subtle illusion of fuller lips. The colour combo seems to suit any makeup look and is great as a finishing touch to your evening look. A perfect formula and a perfect colour match? Precisely why they're my 'perfect lipstick duo'!
