Budget Lips | The Nude, The Berrys and The Classic Red

I wouldn't classify myself as a lipstick obsessive but I do like to wear it on certain occasions as it can really dress up a look. I'm quite wary of some shades such a corals and orangey pinks that really don't suit me so I tend to only stick with the colours that I feel most comfortable in. Over the past year I've fallen in love with 90's nudes but I also find berry and red tones really have the ability to look ultra glamorous. These are my favourite shades that can be picked up for less than £10!
I love a nude lip as I find it is simple and classy without looking too over the top. I like to apply Collection Lasting Colour Lipstick  in Vintage Rose to the centre of my lips which is a muted pinky brown shade, before outlining with Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob and blending the two together. Eastend Snob is a tad darker than Birthday Suit so it gives the slight illusion of fuller, plumper lips. Just as with most liners, Rimmel's Exaggerate can be drying but the lipstick is very creamy so the two work together to form a great combination.

Ever feel that your make-up's looking a bit dull and boring? Pop some red lipstick on and the problem's solved in an instant. Red is a timeless classic that never fails to look glamorous.  I first bought Bourjois Rouge Addition Lipstick in Jetset a few years ago and I'm so impressed with the quality for a budget lipstick. It's so pigmented and really long lasting. If you're going to do red  then you want it to be vibrant and Jetset has no problem in achieving that.

Berry tones are particularly suited to the autumn/winter months and it's a shade that I firmly stick by and love. It's adds warmth to the face and manages to really make a statement! This little combo is a bit of DIY which I actually love to do with lipsticks to create the perfect colour. After being so impressed by Bourjois's Rouge Addition collection I wanted to try something else from the range and picked up the shade Violine Strass (gorgeous colour on its own by the way!). This teamed with Collection Gothic Glam Lipstick in Revenge is a total dreamteam. I personally find Revenge is too sheer to be used on its own and is difficult to built up a depth of colour, but by mixing it with Violine Strass it creates a really bold shade that is a lovely formula on the lips too.
Tip: If you find that your lipstick is a bit too shimmery, particularly when going for a matte look, then purse your lips over a piece of tissue to blot out the shine. I find this will also make colour last longer on the lips.

What's your favourite colours to wear on the lips?

love Katya x

  26. Oh these all look and sound lovely! My favourite drugstore berry lipstick would have to be Rimmel's Kate Moss Lipstick in 107 and I love the nude shades of Bourjois' Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. I love this Rimmel lip liner in Red Diva, but I've read some great things about East End Snob so think it may have to be my next makeup purchase :) x
