Cleansing brushes seem to be cropping up everywhere and opinions often vary. Is it really worth spending over £100 on an electronic brush? Does it's performance justify the price? I know all too well how miserable bad skin can make you feel. When my skin was at its worst I would have paid anything to help improve it. Admittedly my skin is now a lot better than it was four years ago but I still suffered with breakouts and uneven complexion so I felt that there was definitely room for improvement. When I first heard about the Clarisonic I couldn't help but wonder whether this could be the answer to my problem.
So firstly how does the Clarisonic work? It has a vibrating head with more than 300 movements per seconds meaning that it gives a thorough cleanse to remove all grime and dirt, much more than hands alone. By cleansing and unblocking the pores this ultimately leads to clearer skin. At the same time it works to tighten the pores making them appear less visible, exfoliates the surface and improves circulation for overall healthier looking skin. It all makes so much sense and I can really understand the process behind the way that it works but obviously in order for it to prove itself I needed to put this to the test.
There's a number of different cleansing systems that you can choose from and I decided to go for the Mia 2. This has two speed-settings-delicate and universal. The Aria is the one above the Mia 2 and has three settings, however I decided that this one is best suited to me as I think powerful would be too harsh on my skin, which can occasionally be a little sensitive.
I like to use this in the shower after I've removed my make-up. I apply a face wash first of all and then bring the brush to my face and use on the delicate setting (universal setting if my skin is particularly bad and needs even more of a thorough cleanse). The Clarisonic does a quick short double vibration to indicate when you should move around to another part of the face. I usually start on my cheek, moving onto my other cheek, forehead, chin and nose, with the vibrations lasting for 1 minute in total before switching itself off. The sensation is a little strange at first but you soon get used to it and it's very gentle on the skin. The first time that I used this I could instantly feel the results. My skin felt amazingly soft and had such a lovely clean feeling.
It took around a 2-3 weeks before I started to visibly see the results. At first it actually made my skin worse but this is totally normal and demonstrates that it's working its magic! It works in the same way as a face mask where it starts by bringing out all the dirt to the surface of the skin, causing the skin to get spottier but once they've cleared you'll start to really notice a difference. I've been using my Clarisonic since December and I've been truly amazed by the results. My skin looks and feels so much smoother, breakouts have been reduced and blackheads have become a lot less persistent! Blemishes haven't entirely disappeared as there's a number of reasons as to why spots occur but with grime and dirt being one of the main causes, the Clarisonic works so efficiently to eliminate them as much as possible. I've also noticed that by unblocking the pores, skincare products sink into the skin much more adequately so I'm feel I'm really receiving the benefits of the properties within. My skin absorbs cleanser and moisturiser a lot better meaning that make-up application is much smoother. Such a huge bonus!
The Mia 2 comes with the Sensitive Brush Head, a mini bottle of Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser, Magnetic Charger and a travel case. It is recommended to change the brush head every 3 months and you can choose a different head depending on your needs whether it be deep pore for oily skin or delicate for irritated skin.

It's a lot of money but if your complexion is something that really bothers you then I would say it is totally worth the investment. There are cheaper alternatives on the market that may well be just as good but with this I believe you get what you pay for.
What are your thoughts on the Clarisonic? Have you tried it?
