It's Christmas Party season, my favourite time of the year! What better time to put your best dancing shoes on and get a little merry? We had our work Christmas party last Friday and I love seeing how glamorous everyone gets. It's such a change from seeing everyone in their work attire and massive efforts were made!
I chose to wear black as it is such an easy colour to wear and so effortlessly glam. I really love the silver sequin detailing on the front of this Boohoo dress and it matched perfectly with the silver Whistles clutch. Shoe wise I opted for black heeled sandals, which despite being the absolute definition of 'barely there' as they're mainly strap and not much shoe to them, I really love how delicate they are.
Rather than talking about the entirety of my makeup look from the night I decided to discuss about a few beauty essentials for every Christmas party- or any party for that matter!
Fake Tan
Fake tan is a must for me whenever I get dressed up for a special occasion, especially at this time of the year when my summer tan has pretty much totally faded. This one by Sally Hansen can be used all over the body (despite the name) and is a quick and instant way to add a healthy golden glow.
WHAT I WORE: Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Tan Glow | £6.66Powder
With lots of dancing, things can get a little hot and sweaty so a powder is really important to keep the shine at bay. A light dusting of your favourite powder will do the trick and very handy to pop in your bag for any touch-ups.
WHAT I WORE: Illamasqua Loose Translucent Powder | £24.50
Setting Spray
Alongside your powder a setting spray is a great way to keep everything in place and prevent your makeup from slipping and sliding around. Simply apply after your makeup and you're ready to go for the rest of the evening.
WHAT I WORE: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray | £21Nail Varnish
Painting your nails is the epitome of 'finishing touch' for your evening party look. Perhaps not the be all and end all but when I've gone to a lot of effort with everything else I like to keep my nails looking nice too. Barry M is the best high street brand for nail varnishes as they're so cheap but great quality and have practically every colour that you can think of.
WHAT I WORE: Barry M Nail Varnish in Vintage Violet | £2.99Lipstick
Lipstick is the perfect way to add extra glam to your makeup look. For me, red is the ultimate glamorous colour however as our Christmas party was a three course sit down meal I decided on this occasion to opt for a paler nude shade to save any obvious smudging whilst I ate.
WHAT I WORE: MAC Lipstick in Honeylove | £15.50Perfume
A few squirts of perfume before you run out of the door is essential. Alien is a very popular one and I particularly love it in the winter as it's a really warm scent. A top tip is to spray over the top of Vaseline to keep the fragrance lasting on the skin for longer.
WHAT I WORE: Thierry Mugler Alien Eau de Parfum | £60
