A Very Mini Boots Haul

Boots is one of my favourite shops. It may be a little sad to admit but I just love it. Pretty much most of my beauty essentials are all in my one place and I regularly like to pop in there to pick up some new bits and see what else is about.  These three items I picked up a few weeks ago and so far have really been enjoying using.

This is the item that sent me down to Boots in the first place. My hair was feeling really dry and drab so I wanted to try and rectify it with a new product. The mask is enriched with goodness from wheat protein and sunflower seeds to add shine and keep the colour looking vibrant, as well as being a source of hydration which helps to prevent breakage. It has a lovely thick and creamy texture which feels as though it is really nourishing the hair  from the moment it is applied and it smells gorgeous too.

The instructions suggest that it should be applied pre-shampoo so I dampen my hair first of all and then comb it in, really focusing on the ends. It is advised to leave it in a warm towel for 20 minutes but unless you're very forward thinking it's often difficult to remember in advance to leave a hair towel on the radiator, however just a normal dry towel will suffice. I then wash and blow dry my as hair as normal. The results are instant and my hair is left feeling really soft and replenished. Every time I use it I get comments on my hair that it looks lighter and in really good condition- so there really is some truth that it makes the colour appear more vibrant!  This is perfect for reviving parched hair and I can't believes it's only £6!

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
I've recently been on the lookout for a budget foundation that I can use during the week to the office as I feel like I'm wasting my more expensive foundations.   I bought this on a bit of a whim as I didn't know too much about Rimmel's Lasting Finish Foundation but I had read a few blog reviews and so far I've been really liking it. It's quite thick in consistency, maybe a little more than I would have liked for wearing to work, but in fairness it's a medium-full  coverage foundation and you only need to use a small amount.. I apply with my Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush in dabbing motions which gives a really flawless airbrush effect. I couldn't confirm whether it lasts 25 hours but it does last well throughout the day, especially with a primer underneath. It has good coverage, evens out the skin tone and doesn't look cakey, so is ideal if you're on the lookout for a budget buy.  It also comes with a pump which is an extra bonus that a lot of the higher end brands don't offer! Pumps are much more useful as they  prevent bacteria from getting in the bottle, avoid spillages and make it easier to get the last dregs out of the bottle, so for £7.99 this isn't at all bad for a day-to-day foundation!

I bought this as it was on offer for £5.33 and I was intrigued to see what it could do as I haven't ever used a cleansing oil before. I've always steered clear of using oils on my face as I worry that they'll make my face greasy and cause spots, however as they've become quite popular over the years I decided to give this a whirl and see what it can do. The Skin Perfection Oil  is really efficient at dissolving make-up and removing stubborn mascara, so it can be used as an effective make-up remover product. I like to remove the majority of my make-up using Johnson's Makeup Be Gone wipes- simply because it takes up less time- and then I use the oil to remove the lasting remainders and get rid of any grime and dirt.

I really like that it has a pump dispenser as it allows me to control how much comes out at once and avoid having an overload of oil all over my face! I usually squirt around 2 pumps onto a cotton pad and massage it into the skin. I then leave it on for 10 minutes before washing it off with a damp cloth. I've been so happy to find that despite it being a oil it's really lightweight and isn't at all greasy. It leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed with a lovely healthy glow. I think I've definitely been converted to the cleansing oils.

Have you tried any of these products before? What did you think?

  2. I really like that cleansing oil but do prefer balms because they are slightly less messy (can't run down your arms!). Great post :)
