Soap&Glory | My New Brow Favourite

Soap&Glory Brow Pencil
I've previously done a post on shaping and defining the brows [here] where I mentioned that I like to use a Brow Pencil by MAC. The main reason that I love it is due to the very fine nib enabling for greater precision. I like to use the fairest shade in blonde to outline the edge and then I fill in with a powder. This technique works really well for me and I've been using it for sometime.

My only slight qualm with the pencil is that I find it runs out way too quickly, heightened by the fact it can easily snap off with just the slightest pressure. Yet despite this, I love the colour and definition that it gives to my brows so I was happily intending on buying another for £13.50. That was until I happened to be browsing around in Boots and came across Soap&Glory Archery Brow Pencil for £8. With an obvious similarity to MAC but quite considerably cheaper I decided to try it out and compare- and the results were  very pleasing.
Just as I had hoped, the Archery Brow Pencil is extremely similar to MAC's pencil and I think I may even prefer it. In terms of the actual product they're virtually the same. There's barely any difference in the colouring (MAC: Fling /Soap&Glory: Blondeshell) and they both feature a fine nib for complete control to achieve the perfect shape with light feathery strokes. The main difference is in the mechanics- whilst both are self-propelling, the MAC pencil won't wind back down once it's been twisted up whereas the Soap&Glory can be twisted up and down with ease, meaning it's not a problem if you accidently twist up too much and there's less chance of it snapping off, which ultimately results in it lasting a lot longer. It also comes with a little spoolie on the end to brush unruly hairs into place, making it that bit easier to achieve the perfect shape.  So whilst the difference is minor and I love both, for £5.50 less I'm in favour of Soap&Glory.

Have you tried either brow pencil? Do you have a favourite?

  2. Pencil brow products haven't really worked well with my brows, so I usually opt for powder and then Gimmie Brow by Benefit :) This sounds like a good product though, so I might give it a try x

    1. I've heard Gimme Brow's really good too. I like to use a powder as well but I find the fine nib pencil really good for shaping. You should give it a go if you get the chance.

  4. I've recently become obsessed with brow products and I've been looking for a pencil to get that initial shape like you've mentioned, as I fill the remainder of my brows in with a gel. This sounds perfect so I'm definitely going to have a look at this when I'm next in store! Great review, thanks for sharing x

  6. I have yet to find the perfect brow pencil - I,m used to using powders, so any pencil seems to look to fake for me. But I'll keep trying - maybe this MAC one is the ona for me ;)

    1. Sometimes it can be a bit hit and miss with some pencils but I find the ones with the really fine nibs such as these by MAC or Soap&Glory look really natural.

  10. i definitely would have picked this up when i was in the UK last year but i literally couldn't find it anywhere! every boots i went into i couldn't even find or use the testers, which must mean it's a super popular product. glad to hear you're loving it though - i love all the makeup i did manage to pick up from soap & glory. just wish they'd bring the line to australia so i could get it whenever i like!
