First Ever Charlotte Tilbury Products

Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Products
Charlotte Tilbury is a well renowned makeup artist. From her A-List celebrity clients to her very own beauty range, she's achieved things that many of us can only dream of. I'm almost certain that I'm not alone in saying that I was super excited when I heard that she was bringing out her beauty brand back in 2013 and in true CT style, her products allude to the word 'luxe'. Each and every product has been really well considered in order to develop a formula that she is confident will work to enhance every woman's natural beauty and the packaging to go alongside is so beautifully lavish. Charlotte knows that every girl loves a bit of rose gold!

Despite her products being readily available online there are only a handful of counters across the UK, none of which I have ever found myself managing to find the time to be able to visit. I've always wanted to try her products in store for the correct colour match before I make a purchase, so it's taken me two and a half years since her beauty brand was first released to finally get round to putting it to the test, but just as expected, I'm in love!
Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder

Being a luxury brand, of course there's going to be the prices to match meaning that her products are expensive. One other reason whilst I've held of buying her products for so long. However I very surprisingly managed to nab the Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder for £20, over a third off the usual price of £33.

Shortly after christmas whilst wandering around John Lewis I spotted the powder on the clearance shelf. It was a little strange considering John Lewis only normally sell CT online but not being able to resist a bargain and also being in my shade 02 medium, I picked it up. It turned out that it had a 'damaged' sticker on it, hence the reason for being reduced, however after inspecting it for a good few minutes I couldn't actually see a problem with it at all; it all looked pretty normal to me. I even spoke with the shop assistant who also agreed that she couldn't see any damage either, leading us to conclude that it must have just been the box that was damaged as it didn't close properly. With the damaged box not seemingly an issue I decided that I was going to buy it and was on my way to the counter when disaster struck and the 'damaged' box gave way and dropped the powder out of the box, smashing it to the floor. I was starting to understand why it was reduced and you can imagine the horror on my face! I picked it up and very apprehensively opened it, expecting the powder to be a crumbled mess, however to my amazement everything was still perfectly in tact! From past experience, had it been a drugstore powder I'm almost certain that it would have shattered into tiny pieces, but being Charlotte Tilbury the incredible quality paid off and everything remained in one piece. This proved to me exactly why her beauty products deserve all the credit that they get- and that was before I'd even got the powder home!

When I did eventually manage to take it home to try I was instantly impressed with how finely milled it is. With previous powders that I have used in the past, whilst they may be great for banishing the shine they can be terrible for sitting in the pores and leaving the skin looking very dull and flat. This powder contains nanoparticles which reflects the light and works amazing well at lifting the skin and enhancing the dimensions of the face, along with with Rosewax and Almond Oil meaning that it still manages to keep the skin hydrated without looking at all greasy.  It also sets makeup in place beautifully and keeps the shine at bay, needing only a very minimal top up, if at all. I like to apply this using my Illamasqua Powder Brush as it picks up just the right amount of product to lightly dust across my face and focus on my t-zone, without being too heavy. With it's silky soft cashmere finish that leaves your skin looking like porcelain, this is everything that you could want from a powder and more.
Charlotte Tilbury Rock n Kohl Eyeliner
When it comes to creating a smokey eye I like to use a kohl eyeliner pencil as they are easy to blend and smudge, however I often find that after a few hours they can begin to melt on the skin and things start looking a little messy. After doing a lot of research into eyeliners that prevent this from happening I decided to opt for Charlotte Tilbury's Rock 'n' Kohl Liquid Eyeliner Pencil in Barabella Brown; a product that promises to glide on smoothly but is waterproof to ensure that it stays put all day and night.

I find the idea of this being titled a 'liquid eyeliner' a little misleading as generally liquid liners come in the form of a liquid in a bottle and not as a solid pencil, however I can see where the concept comes from. This has to be the most creamy pencil that I have ever used! The soft texture means that it applies with pure ease yet once set it stays firmly in place. This makes it really easy to create a nice slick line, yet can still be smudged for a smokey look if so desired. I like to apply this along my lower lash line and soften the edges by smudging with my fingers. My only very slight qualm is that due to how soft it is, I find that it can wear down quite quickly and at £19 it's not something that you want to be constantly having to replace. Other than that, I've really enjoyed applying this at the beginning of an evening and knowing that by the end of the evening my eyeliner will be exactly where I left it. This really does not budge!

Overall I've been completely won over by Charlotte Tilbury's beauty range, despite only have tried two of her products so far. It may be pricey but this is most definitely reflected within the quality and I'll now be making an extra special effort to visit her flagship store in Covent Garden. Next on the wishlist- Magic Foundation and The Dolce Vita Palette.

Have you tried Charlotte Tilbury Makeup? What's your favourite?

    1. I totally agree! I've heard lots of good things about Filmstar Bronze and Glow and I'd love to try it although I know it's one of her most expensive products.
